Patna, Feb 20 (NationPress) The President of Congress National Women's Wing, Alka Lamba, launched a fierce critique against Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday, asserting that the NDA government in Bihar will be dismantled in the forthcoming 2025 Assembly elections.
Lamba, who received a warm reception from Congress supporters upon her arrival in Patna, confidently stated that Nitish Kumar will not assume the role of Chief Minister again.
She revealed plans to convene a Bihar State Women’s Congress Executive Meeting on Friday, aimed at formulating a comprehensive strategy for the 2025 elections.
Emphasizing Congress's dedication to fortifying its presence in Bihar, she declared an intent to initiate an assertive campaign statewide.
“I will travel to every district and Lok Sabha constituency in the coming days, and we will take all necessary steps to unseat this government. We will bolster our standing in Bihar, particularly among women, and devise a thorough plan for the 2025 elections,” stated Lamba.
Lamba accused Nitish Kumar’s administration of failing to fulfill commitments made to women in the state.
She contended that the NDA government has neglected women’s welfare, asserting: “They make promises but deliver nothing. We will ensure all possible support for women.”
She dismissed the NDA’s ambition of securing 225 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, noting their previous failure to achieve a 400-seat target in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections: “Last time, Nitish Kumar’s party ranked third in Bihar. History will repeat itself. The NDA will face struggles here.”
Alka Lamba supported RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's women’s welfare initiative, stating: “If Tejashwi Yadav is advocating for the Mahila Samman Yojana in Bihar, we stand firmly by him as coalition partners. Our government will emerge, ensuring comprehensive support for women.”
She also congratulated Rekha Gupta, the new Chief Minister of Delhi, but cautioned that her tenure may face challenges: “The role of Chief Minister is fraught with difficulties in Delhi. Historical precedents show that Madanlal Khurana, Saheb Singh Verma, and Sushma Swaraj could not complete their terms. Sheila Dikshit lost power following the Nirbhaya incident. Should any issues arise concerning women’s safety in Delhi, I will take a public stand against her.”
Alka Lamba threatened to organize a significant protest if the Women’s Reservation Bill is not enacted during the upcoming Budget Session: “If the government fails to implement it, the National Women Congress will surround the Parliament to demand action.”
