New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) In a significant police operation in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, a notorious criminal with a bounty of Rs one lakh and affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, was eliminated during an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday.

The criminal, recognized as Jeetu alias Jitendra, sustained injuries during the firefight and was immediately transported to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

As per police sources, the STF engaged in a fierce encounter with a gang of criminals in the Mundali police station vicinity of Meerut. During the confrontation, one of the criminals suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical care.

The injured criminal was later identified as Jeetu, who did not survive the treatment.

Jeetu, hailing from Asounda village in Haryana's Jhajjar district, had a long history of criminal activities. He faced eight criminal cases registered against him on various charges.

In 2016, Jeetu received a life sentence for a double murder case in Jhajjar. However, he was granted parole in 2023, during which he escaped custody.

Following his escape, he committed a murder in Ghaziabad’s Tilamod area, where he executed a contract killing. He had been evading arrest since that time.

While incarcerated, Jeetu established connections with members of the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang. After his escape, he aligned himself with the gang and became involved in their illicit activities. The police had announced a reward of Rs one lakh for any information leading to his capture.

Jeetu's criminal background included several cases across Haryana, Delhi, and Ghaziabad. Notably, he was sentenced to five years in prison by the Bahadurgarh Court in Haryana on August 29, 2018, for a case registered at the Bahadurgarh police station.

He was also handed a life sentence on February 3, 2018, by the same court and received a ten-year prison term in another case. His criminal record encompasses numerous charges in regions such as Jhajjar, Kanjhawala, and Vikas Puri in Delhi, as well as Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
