City SP (East) Parichay Kumar noted that the Patna Police, in collaboration with the Bihar STF, apprehended the suspect after he reportedly committed a crime in the Beur region and attempted to flee towards Jehanabad on a motorcycle.
"The SHO of the Beur police station promptly alerted the Masaurhi police station. In response, vehicle inspections were initiated on potential escape routes. During this process, officers attempted to stop a suspicious motorcyclist, who then tried to flee and lost control, falling off his bike," the SP explained.
Kumar further elaborated that after the fall, the suspect allegedly fired at the police.
"In a defensive shooting, the suspect sustained an injury to his leg. He was swiftly transported to the hospital, and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has been dispatched to the scene for evidence gathering," he stated.
Law enforcement indicated that Yadav hails from Latehar district in Jharkhand and has over 20 serious criminal cases against him, including charges of murder, robbery, and dacoity across various police stations.
"This individual has ties to the Rahul Singh gang of Jharkhand, which is reportedly affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang," the SP added.
After the encounter, police secured the area and initiated a search operation to ensure that no other criminals were present nearby.
Officials conveyed that Parmanand Yadav, originally from Chater village in Chandwa police station of Latehar district, Jharkhand, had been seeking to expand his criminal operations in Bihar and was involved in extortion and organized crime.
Law enforcement asserted that his capture represents a significant disruption to an active gang network in Bihar. He is currently being interrogated to extract information regarding his associates, criminal network, and any potential conspiracies.
