Patna, April 20 (NationPress) A police squad in Bihar's Jamui district faced an alleged assault from local inhabitants while attempting to detain a fugitive suspect, resulting in injuries to three officers.
An official reported that the conflict erupted around 10 a.m. on Monday when the police targeted Khairma village to capture Dhibu Yadav, who had been on the run due to several criminal allegations.
As the police approached to apprehend him near a brick kiln by the Khairma bridge, Yadav and his family, along with their associates, purportedly launched an attack on the police.
The assailants wielded sticks, clubs, bricks, and stones, causing injuries to two sub-inspectors and one constable.
In spite of the onslaught, the police successfully arrested the suspect.
The injured officers have been identified as sub-inspectors Sunil Kumar Sah and Bikram Kumar, both assigned to the Town police station, along with constable Ranbir Kumar.
All three were transported to Sadar hospital for medical attention, where they are currently receiving care.
Dhibu Yadav has also been taken to the same facility for a medical assessment.
All injured parties are under the care of Dr. Manish Kumar.
Police sources indicate that Dhibu Yadav has numerous serious charges against him, including dacoity, robbery, and assault, with some cases registered at the Railway Police Station.
He had managed to evade capture for an extended period prior to his arrest.
In the wake of the incident, law enforcement has launched an investigation to identify and hold accountable those who participated in the attack on the police.
Previously, on March 27, 2026, a government team investigating electricity theft was reportedly assaulted by locals in Bakharaur village under the Sidhwalia police jurisdiction.
The Electricity Department team, led by a junior electrical engineer, arrived at the village following numerous complaints regarding power theft.
However, as they commenced their inspection, they encountered resistance from locals that quickly escalated from verbal disputes to a violent clash.
The situation deteriorated when an enraged mob allegedly attacked the officials.
Several employees, including the junior engineer, were assaulted, verbally threatened, and even faced death threats.
