Bhopal, March 28 (NationPress) Another incident of violence against law enforcement occurred when local residents, including women, attacked police officers in Mahuakheda village, situated in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district.

The altercation unfolded on Thursday evening within the jurisdiction of the Surkhi police station. Two officers sustained injuries; however, the Superintendent of Police confirmed that they are not in critical condition.

On Thursday around 5 p.m., a police unit was sent from Surkhi police station to Mahuakheda village to apprehend four individuals with pending warrants. During the operation, a crowd, including women, encircled the police team and unexpectedly launched an assault, hurling stones at them.

“Three individuals have been detained so far, and additional arrests are ongoing; we take such incidents very seriously,” stated Vikas Sahawal, Superintendent of Police for Sagar district, in a conversation with IANS.

The reports indicate that Head Constable Pyarelal and Constable Brajendra were injured during the incident. They managed to escape and received initial medical attention at Surkhi Hospital before being moved to the district hospital in Sagar later that evening.

In response to the Thursday incident, the police team promptly requested reinforcements. However, due to confusion stemming from two villages sharing the name Mahuakheda, the reinforcement unit initially arrived at the incorrect location, where no violence had taken place.

Despite this setback, the police ultimately reached the right site and regained control of the situation. Nevertheless, the Superintendent of Police refuted the claim of there being two villages by stating, “There is only one Mahuakheda in the area, and the reinforcements arrived in a timely manner.”

This marks the fifth reported violent incident against police teams within a two-week span.

Recently, in Gadra village, located in the jurisdiction of Shahpura police station in Mauganj district, assistant sub-inspector Ramcharan Gautam and a local youth named Sunny Dwivedi lost their lives due to an attack.

In Damoh, a tense situation arose over a weapons seizure, resulting in police personnel being fired upon by the suspect, Qasim Khan, who was subsequently injured by return fire.

In Budhar, Shahdol, a group of local women attacked a contingent of officers with stones during an arrest operation, causing injuries to several officers.
