Bhopal, March 24 (NationPress) The police have filed charges against four individuals under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in connection with the recent assault on a police team in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh. All four suspects have been apprehended.

The incident transpired late Saturday night when a group of offenders attacked a police team, led by Sub-Inspector Ramnaryan Dhruve, which was sent to Kheri village in the Ichhawar area to address rising tensions.

“Police have detained all four suspects, and Sub-Inspector Ramnarayan Dhruve is currently receiving treatment but is reported to be in stable condition,” stated district collector, Balaguru K., to IANS.

Sehore is located approximately 40 km from Bhopal. The individuals arrested include Gajraj, son of Lalji Ram Jangde; Rajaram; Vishal, son of Gajraj Jangde; and Rahul, son of Hemraj Jangade. All four are residents of Gerukhal Junapani village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ichhawar Police Station.

The police have charged them under multiple sections of the BNS. The allegations include engaging in obscene acts in public spaces (Section 296), assault (Section 121(1)), using criminal force to obstruct a public servant in the execution of their duties (Section 132), attempted murder (Section 109), and additional charges under Section 3(5).

These charges underscore the seriousness of the assault and the intent to hinder law enforcement.

Late Saturday night, a violent clash occurred in Kheri village, located within the Ichhawar police station area of Sehore district, as the police team was ambushed by a group of offenders. The police had responded to reports of escalating conflict, only to be attacked while attempting to restore order.

The assault left Sub-Inspector Ramnarayan Dhruve severely injured, but he is now receiving medical care and is said to be out of danger.

District Collector Balaguru K. confirmed these updates in a statement to IANS, noting that the police acted swiftly to apprehend the four individuals involved in the incident.

The unrest in Kheri village reportedly stemmed from the marriage of a local man, Kamlesh, to a woman from a nearby village. This union ignited tensions that quickly escalated, leading to a group of offenders vandalizing Kamlesh’s property.

Fearing for their safety, Kamlesh and his newlywed wife had to flee the village. Upon the arrival of the police team, led by Sub-Inspector Dhruve, to investigate and calm the situation, they were attacked. The assailants ambushed the officers, injuring Dhruve and forcing his team to retreat for their own safety.
