Patna, April 9 (NationPress) Six police officers, including a woman officer, were injured when a police team faced a violent mob attack during a raid in Moradabad village within the Sasaram Mufassil police station jurisdiction in Rohtas district on Tuesday night, officials reported on Wednesday.

As per officials, the police unit was attempting to apprehend two suspects when they were assaulted by a mob wielding sticks and stones. Two officers suffered serious injuries in the melee.

Head Constable Rajendra Singh, one of the injured, indicated that the team was ambushed shortly after arriving in the village.

"Immediately upon our arrival in Moradabad, a crowd of villagers—predominantly relatives of the suspects—attacked us with sticks and hurled stones and bricks at us," Singh recounted.

The other injured officers have been identified as Lallu Kumar, Smriti Kumari, ASI Sunil Kumar, Shatrughan Singh, and Nitish Kumar.

All injured personnel were taken to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram, where two officers with skull injuries are currently receiving intensive care.

Inspector Roshan Kumar, who oversees the Sasaram Mufassil police station, confirmed the occurrence. “A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against 20 named individuals and numerous unidentified persons. Further legal proceedings are in progress,” he stated, mentioning that raids are being conducted at various sites to capture those involved.

“The suspects fled their residences following the attack,” he added.

This incident is part of a troubling trend in the state. On March 12, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajiv Ranjan Mal was fatally wounded during a raid in Bihar's Araria district.

ASI Mal, stationed at Fulkaha police station, was trying to arrest a suspect named Anmol Yadav when a violent confrontation erupted with locals. He incurred a severe head injury after falling during the altercation and later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.
