New Delhi, June 11 (NationPress) Laxman Singh, a former Member of Parliament and the younger sibling of Digvijaya Singh, the ex-Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has been expelled from the Congress party for a duration of six years. This decision comes in light of repeated allegations of anti-party activities. Tariq Anwar, a member of the Congress Discipline Committee, confirmed the expulsion.
On April 25, Singh made critical comments about the party leadership in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, stating, 'Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra are naive. The nation is suffering due to their immaturity,' during a condolence gathering.
Additionally, Singh accused Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of collaborating with terrorists.
Reacting to his remarks, the Congress Disciplinary Action Committee issued a show-cause notice on May 9, requiring an explanation within ten days.
The notice, issued by member secretary Tariq Anwar, outlined concerns raised by MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari and AICC general secretary in charge of MP Harish Chaudhary. They argued that Singh’s public statements have significantly harmed the image and dignity of the Congress party.
