Jaipur, May 2 (NationPress) The remains of Dr. Girija Vyas, a former Union Minister and esteemed Congress leader, who tragically passed away on Thursday evening around 7:15 pm in Ahmedabad, were transported to Udaipur late that night.
On Friday morning, her body was placed at her home in Deityamagri for the public to pay their final respects.
The last rites are scheduled to take place in Udaipur at 4 pm today.
Dr. Vyas suffered extensive burn injuries on March 31 while engaging in the Gangaur worship at her residence in Udaipur.
Her dupatta caught fire from a lamp during the aarti.
A domestic worker promptly assisted her, and she was taken to a private hospital in Udaipur. Subsequently, she was transferred to Ahmedabad for advanced medical care due to 90 percent burns.
According to her brother, Gopal Sharma, her health initially showed signs of recovery but worsened again over the last two days. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries on May 1.
A significant number of prominent political leaders convened in Udaipur to pay their respects to the late leader.
Former Chief Ministers Vasundhara Raje and Ashok Gehlot met at Maharana Pratap Airport in Dabok.
