Jaipur, May 2 (NationPress) Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has conveyed her profound sorrow over the passing of esteemed party figure and former Union Minister Dr. Girija Vyas, who sadly left us on Thursday night in Ahmedabad after enduring severe burn injuries for a month.

In a heartfelt letter to Vyas’ brother, Gopal Krishna Sharma, Gandhi expressed, “I am deeply saddened by the news of your elder sister’s passing -- a prominent Congress leader, former minister, gifted writer, celebrated poet, and a truly gentle and soft-spoken individual -- Dr. Girija Vyas. Her departure during treatment in Ahmedabad, following a tragic accident about a month ago, is profoundly heartbreaking.”

Gandhi characterized Vyas’ loss as an “irreparable loss” for not just her family but also for the Indian National Congress and the literary community.

“Her contributions to politics, society, and education are unforgettable. The veteran leader passed away at Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Her remains were taken to Udaipur late that night.
