Local Residents Confront Maoists in Chaibasa, Resulting in the Death of PLFI Leader and Accomplice

Chaibasa, Dec 8 (NationPress) An area commander of the banned extremist organization People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), referred to as Mota Tiger, and one of his associates were brutally killed by villagers in the Gudri block of Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, according to officials.

The incident unfolded on Friday evening and was revealed on Sunday morning when the bodies of the insurgents were found near the Todel-Komay forest, within the jurisdiction of Gudri police station.

Frustrated by ongoing Maoist violence, the villagers united to declare a ban on individuals who instigate fear and chaos through armed intimidation. Approximately 50 villages came together, equipping themselves with traditional weaponry like bows, arrows, spears, and axes, in order to confront PLFI members and eliminate the threat.

As stated by DIG, Chaibasa Range, Manoj Ratan Chothe, initial investigations indicate that the PLFI commander had entered the locality to execute an operation when he was overpowered and killed by the villagers. Due to the ongoing tension, police have not yet accessed the site.

This decisive action by the villagers came in response to a series of violent acts attributed to PLFI in the region.

On November 24, in Giru village, PLFI militants murdered two villagers—Ravi Tanti and Sansa Topno—using sharp weapons, which forced other family members to flee.

Additionally, on November 27, a young man, identified as Naman Lomga, was beaten to death by unknown attackers in Bharidha Market, Goilkera. There are also suspicions regarding the disappearance of a resident from Saruda village, who is feared to have been killed by Maoists.

These violent occurrences, alongside a surge in atrocities, prompted villagers from approximately 30 villages to convene a meeting two days prior, where they resolved to take action into their own hands.

On Friday evening, Mota Tiger and his associates were allegedly convening in the Todel-Komay forest when villagers encircled and attacked them. The commander and one accomplice died from the assault, while other Maoists are believed to have sustained injuries during the confrontation.

With the situation remaining tense, police from Sonuwa, Anandpur, Goilkera, and Gudri stations are stationed near the forest to oversee developments. The villagers are steadfast, determined to defend their communities against Maoist violence.

The atmosphere remains precarious, with police urging calm as investigations progress.
