Will Two Life-Term Convicts Find Love Behind Bars?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Jan 23 (NationPress) Two life-term convicts involved in some of Rajasthan's most notorious murder cases are preparing to wed after forming a bond within the confines of Jaipur's open jail.
The wedding is scheduled for Friday in Barodamev, located in Alwar district.
The wedding invitation has emerged, confirming the arrangements. The bride, Priya Seth (33), was found guilty in the 2018 murder of Dushyant Sharma, in which she reportedly employed a honey trap to entice and kill the victim.
The groom, Hanuman Prasad alias Jack (32), is serving a life sentence for the horrific murder of five family members in Alwar in 2017. Both are currently enduring life imprisonment.
Following directives from the Rajasthan High Court, the District Parole Advisory Committee approved parole for the couple to formalize the marriage. They met after being transferred from Jaipur Central Jail to the Open Jail in Sanganer approximately a year ago.
According to police sources, their bond developed gradually, and they began their relationship around six months ago.
For the last four months, they have been living together in a live-in arrangement within the open jail's premises.
The couple decided to marry in November of last year and informed their families. The parole process commenced in December, during which they even presented their wedding invitation card before the High Court as part of their request.
The three-day wedding festivities are taking place at Hanuman Prasad's ancestral residence in Hauli Chowk, Barodamev, Alwar district. According to the invitation, the engagement ceremony occurred on January 21, followed by the “Chak Bhat” ritual on January 22, while the wedding procession and reception are set for January 23.
Advocate Vishram Prajapati represented both convicts during the parole proceedings.
Hanuman Prasad was convicted for the October 2, 2017, murders of five family members in Alwar, including four children. The victims were Banwari Lal Sharma (45), his three sons aged between 12 and 17, and a 10-year-old nephew.
Investigations indicated that the murders were executed using sedatives and sharp weapons. Hanuman Prasad, along with his then-girlfriend Santosh Sharma—a taekwondo practitioner—and two accomplices, planned and executed the killings. The motive was tied to an extramarital affair. An Alwar court later sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Priya Seth, a resident of Falna in Pali district, was convicted for the May 2018 murder of Dushyant Sharma. Police investigations revealed that she allegedly lured the victim using a dating app and, along with her live-in partner Dikshant Kamra and another accomplice, murdered him for ransom.
Dushyant was strangled, his body stuffed into a suitcase, and subsequently discarded in the Amer hills near Jaipur. In November 2023, a Jaipur court sentenced Priya Seth and her co-accused to life imprisonment.
Both convicts left behind former partners—who are also serving life sentences—making their upcoming wedding a topic of considerable public interest, showcasing an extraordinary relationship that blossomed behind prison walls.
