Jaipur, March 1 (NationPress) Jaipur Police have detained four individuals under a production warrant concerning the threatening communications aimed at the assassination of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
The suspects, previously held in Dausa Jail, were apprehended by Vidhayakpuri Police Station and subsequently brought before the court on Saturday, where they were remanded for two days.
As per SHO Banwari Lal Meena, the apprehended individuals are Rinku alias Randwa (28), from Harsaura, Alwar; Shahzad Khan alias Sajid (28), from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, currently living in Sanjay Nagar-E, Jhotwara; Jaynarayan (32), a resident of Sadar, Dausa; and Rakesh Joshi (45), also from Sadar, Dausa. Rinku alias Randwa and Shahzad Khan alias Sajid were already incarcerated in Dausa Jail under the POCSO Act.
The inquiry revealed that a week ago, Rinku alias Randwa, a convict at Shyalvasa Central Jail, Dausa, contacted the Jaipur Police Control Room twice, delivering a death threat against Bhajan Lal Sharma, declaring, "I will kill you before midnight."
Further investigations indicated that the accused Jaynarayan purchased a SIM card under his name for Rs 1,500, which was then smuggled to Rinku inside the jail by compounder Rakesh Joshi for the same price.
Jaipur Police continues to probe the case, concentrating on how the SIM card was infiltrated into the prison and if there are any external accomplices involved, as stated by officials.
On February 21, a prisoner from Dausa’s Salawas jail also issued threats against the Chief Minister. The 29-year-old Rinku, serving a life sentence for a rape conviction, contacted the Jaipur police control room with a threat to kill the Chief Minister, according to police officials.
The location of the mobile device used for the threatening call was traced back to Salawas jail.
Authorities reported that after an intensive four-hour search operation at the jail from 3 am to 7 am, the phone was successfully retrieved.
Inspector General of jail Vikram Singh was assigned to oversee the inquiry into this matter, as stated by the state Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham.
