Jaipur, March 28 (NationPress) Nine police officers have been suspended due to death threats directed at Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa.

On the evening of Friday, ADG Rupinder Singh conducted an investigation at Bikaner Jail regarding the threats aimed at the CM. Consequently, Deputy Jailor Jaising, Chief Guard Vijay Pal, Guard Jagdish Prasad, and Anil Meena were suspended. There is also another officer under scrutiny for allegedly supplying mobile phones and SIM cards to the inmate linked to the threats.

In a related incident, jailor Bhanwar Singh, Deputy Jailer Ramesh Chand, Chief Watchman Virendra Singh Bhati, Guard Chandrapal, and Surender Singh were suspended from Jaipur Central Jail following a threatening call received by Deputy CM Prem Chand Barwa on March 27.

The DSP of Jaipur Central Jail, Indra Kumar, has been reassigned to the District Jail in Sikar, while jailor Ramchandra and Chief Guard Chandan Charan have also faced suspension.

This incident marks the fourth time in 14 months that CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has received threats. The latest threat originated from an inmate in Bikaner Central Jail, where a mobile phone was recovered during the investigation.

Previous threats to the CM included a death threat on February 21 from Dausa Jail, where an inmate involved in a POCSO case placed two threatening calls to the Jaipur Police Control Room within a span of ten minutes. The police managed to trace the calls to Shyalwas Jail and seized mobile devices during a raid.

Another threatening call was made from Shyalwas Jail on July 27, 2024, and a January 2024 threat came from Jaipur Central Jail by a POCSO inmate who issued a threat to shoot the CM.

Just two days prior, on March 26, Deputy CM Premchand Barwa received a comparable death threat, with the call's source traced back to Jaipur Central Jail.
