Low-Intensity Explosion Occurs in Prashant Vihar, Delhi - Second Incident in a Month

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) A three-wheeler driver was injured in a low-intensity explosion that occurred in north Delhi’s Prashant Vihar on Thursday morning. This incident took place within one kilometer of a prior explosion at the CRPF school in the same area on October 20.
As of late evening, there was no confirmation regarding a terrorism angle associated with the blast, despite the involvement of the anti-terror National Investigation Agency and the National Security Guard alongside local police. Their investigation focused on analyzing CCTV footage and conducting forensic tests on the white powder found near the explosion site.
“A similar white substance was retrieved from the CRPF school blast site,” an official stated.
The explosion nearly coincided with a media briefing by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who criticized the BJP-led Central government for the worsening law and order situation in the capital.
Eyewitnesses reported widespread panic in the vicinity as people began to flee upon hearing a loud noise at 11:47 a.m. near Bansiwala Sweets, adjacent to the PVR multiplex.
An eyewitness mentioned that the first responders were from the fire brigade, soon followed by a bomb disposal unit and a dog squad.
“A thick cloud of white smoke was billowing from the area where the bomb detonated, located near a park’s wall along the roadside,” stated local resident R.K. Sharma in an interview with IANS.
Another local resident noted that the sound of this explosion seemed slightly less intense than the one from last month in the same neighborhood. “This is just a reflection of the authorities' negligence,” remarked businessman P.C. Mittal, referring to the second explosion in the area in approximately a month.
“Fortunately, not all shops and businesses were operational at the time. If they had been, the damage could have been far greater, as this area often gets congested with illegal street vendors and parked vehicles,” added another local.
Local businessman Satpal Jain expressed concern, stating, “We are anxious, and there is a pervasive atmosphere of fear. The police need to investigate who is responsible for this incident.”
A police statement confirmed, “At 11:47 a.m., we received a report regarding an explosion in front of Bansiwala Sweet, Prashant Vihar. Local police, along with the FSL Team, Crime Team, fire tender, and ambulance, promptly responded to the scene at PVR Road, Prashant Vihar.”
“It was determined that a very mild explosion occurred near the wall of a small park. One person sustained minor injuries and was quickly transported to BSA Hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged shortly after,” the statement added.
On October 20, a similar crude bomb caused damage at the CRPF School in Prashant Vihar, although no injuries were reported then. A social media post circulated following that incident hinted at the involvement of Khalistan supporters, but it was later removed. Police had not classified the CRPF school explosion as a terrorist act.
