Shivpuri, April 3 (NationPress) Madhav National Park (MNP) located in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, which has been designated as the 9th tiger reserve in the state, welcomed a new tiger on Thursday.
An official reported that a five-year-old male tiger, rescued from the open areas of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in the Vindhya region, was released into Madhav National Park (MNP) early Thursday morning.
It’s noteworthy that on March 10, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated Madhav Tiger Reserve (MTR) and released one tiger. Subsequently, five more tigers were transported from various regions within the state to the facility. With the latest addition on Thursday, the tiger population at Madhav Tiger Reserve has now reached a total of seven.
MNP stands as the first Tiger Reserve within the Gwalior-Chambal region and ranks as the ninth in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed his joy and shared a video showcasing the newly released tiger at MTR on his social media platform 'X'.
“We warmly welcome the new addition to Madhav Tiger Reserve. The tiger from Bandhavgarh has been successfully reintroduced into Shivpuri’s Madhav Tiger Reserve this morning. The growing number of tigers in the reserve will not only enhance the forest ecosystem but also stimulate the development of Shivpuri,” stated the Union Minister.
Scindia, a native of the Gwalior-Chambal region, emphasized that Madhya Pradesh has already attained the title of ‘Tiger State’ and is evolving into a key destination for wildlife tourism enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister noted that the reintroduction of Cheetahs at Sheopur’s Kuno National Park (KNP) marks the second significant advancement in wildlife for the Gwalior-Chambal region of the state.
