Madhya Pradesh CM Urges Rahul Gandhi to Take Cues from Former PM Vajpayee as Leader of Opposition

Bhopal, Dec 25 (NationPress) In response to various allegations targeting Congress, particularly concerning the Nehru-Gandhi family, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav remarked on Tuesday that Rahul Gandhi ought to take lessons from former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in his capacity as the Leader of Opposition.

During a press conference in Bhopal, CM Yadav also took aim at the current leadership of Congress under Rahul Gandhi.

"Why should Amit Shah apologize when he has done nothing wrong? His statement during the parliamentary address was misrepresented by Congress as a tactic to deceive the public for electoral gain," the CM stated.

Furthermore, while highlighting historical contexts (as asserted by BJP) regarding the contentious relationship between former PM Jawahar Lal Nehru and Ambedkar on numerous issues, including Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, CM Yadav criticized Congress MP and LoP in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

Referring to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he emphasized, "After the Prime Minister, the LoP is the second most prestigious position in Indian democracy. Rahul Gandhi should exhibit respect for this role. He ought to learn from Atal ji, who led the Opposition under five Prime Ministers, earning respect from even the ruling party."

CM Yadav further questioned, "What has Congress done regarding Ambedkar?"

He highlighted that the individual who triumphed over Ambedkar in an election was honored with the prestigious civilian award 'Bharat Ratna'.

"The Nehru-Gandhi family disrespected Ambedkar even posthumously. I want to inquire if Ambedkar deserves the Bharat Ratna or not?" he posed.

Chief Minister Yadav also pointed out, "Congress held power in Madhya Pradesh for many years yet failed to erect a memorial for Ambedkar at his birthplace in Mhow."

"While Rahul Gandhi visited Mhow during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, when have any other top Congress leaders visited Ambedkar's birthplace?" he questioned.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders, including former CM and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, participated in a march honoring Ambedkar in Bhopal.

In his address to party members, Digvijaya Singh condemned Amit Shah's comments regarding Ambedkar, stating that the Opposition is calling for an apology from him. He should apologize and step down on moral grounds, but he is being protected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
