Rewa, July 26 (NationPress) A former BJP legislator, K. P. Tripathi, is accused of misbehaving with a senior woman police officer, berating and yelling at her in broad daylight, labeling her an "insensitive woman".

A video that captured the former MLA's disruptive conduct towards the senior police officer inside a police station in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district has gone viral on social media, prompting backlash from the opposition Congress party.

As observed in the viral footage, the situation escalated when the woman police officer resisted Tripathi's inappropriate behaviour; the ex-MLA and his supporters were seen shouting angrily at her and gesturing aggressively.

The woman police officer involved is Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ritu Upadhyay.

Fortunately, the situation was diffused when the Chorahta police station's SHO intervened, preventing Tripathi and his supporters from potentially assaulting her and escorting CSP Ritu Upadhyay away from the confrontation.

In the video, the policeman can be seen pleading with Tripathi to de-escalate the situation, even bowing and folding his hands in an attempt to restore calm.

Despite these efforts, the former MLA and his supporters continued to hurl insults at CSP Ritu Upadhyay.

Reports indicate that Tripathi and his backers had visited the Chorahta police station to file an FIR against his political rival and current Congress MLA Abhay Mishra, who is accused of assaulting one of his employees.

It was previously reported that a staff member of Congress MLA Abhay Mishra had been allegedly assaulted at his office.

When the victim, Abhishek Tiwari, attempted to file a complaint at the police station, it was not registered. He then sought the assistance of former BJP legislator K. P. Tripathi.

Following a protest led by Tripathi and his supporters, an FIR was eventually filed against Mishra and four of his associates late Friday night.

In a surprising development, another employee, Ashok Tiwari, lodged a counter FIR against Abhishek, accusing him of severing one of his fingers during a fight. Ashok arrived at the police station with the severed portion of his finger and a medical report, alleging that Abhishek was intoxicated and instigated the altercation over attendance records.

It is noteworthy that K. P. Tripathi, who was elected MLA from Semaria in 2018, lost to Congress' Abhay Mishra in the 2023 Assembly elections.

In response to the former BJP legislator's unruly conduct towards CSP Ritu Upadhyay, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari has called for immediate action against him.

"The BJP leader attempted to assault a woman cop and labeled her insensitive. Will the Home Minister (CM Mohan Yadav) take action? Will an FIR be filed against Tripathi?" questioned Jitu Patwari.
