Mumbai, March 3 (NationPress) On the inaugural day of the Budget Session, the Maharashtra government unveiled supplementary demands totaling ₹6,486.20 crore. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented these demands during the state Assembly session, just days before the annual budget for 2025-26 scheduled for March 10.
Among the total of ₹6,486.20 crore, the highest allocation of ₹3,006.28 crore has been granted to the rural development department. Other significant allocations include ₹1,688.74 crore for industry, energy, labour and mining, ₹590 crore for urban development, ₹412.36 crore for higher and technical education, ₹313.93 crore for cooperation, marketing, and textiles, ₹255.51 crore for environment and climate change, ₹67.20 crore for revenue and forest, ₹67.12 crore for the OBC department, and ₹46.35 crore for public works.
The government has allocated ₹3,752.16 crore for the centrally sponsored Prime Minister Awas Yojana (rural), benefiting general and Scheduled Tribes categories. Additionally, ₹2,000 crore is designated for free electricity under the Baliraja scheme for agricultural pumps, ₹1,450 crore for loans aimed at road and bridge construction through the Centre's special assistance scheme, and ₹637.42 crore for the Rashtriya Gramin Jivonnati Yojana.
Furthermore, ₹600 crore has been set aside for stamp duty grants to municipal corporations and municipalities, ₹375 crore for scholarships under the Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shau Education Scholarship scheme, ₹335 crore for the national rural health mission, ₹300 crore for streetlight electricity tariffs from gram panchayat roads to MahaVitaran, ₹244 crore for the Pune ring road and Jalna Nanded expressway, ₹221.89 crore for arrears related to the 7th Pay Commission pension and salary for Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran employees, and ₹175 crore for the Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation.
The state government has also allocated ₹171 crore for the National River Conservation scheme for the Mula Mutha River in Pune, ₹150 crore for sustenance allowances at the Punjabrao Deshmukh hostel, ₹100 crore for power tariff concessions for power looms, and ₹296 crore for margin money loans for four cooperative sugar factories.
