Bhopal, Oct 29 (NationPress) A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kalpana Raghuvanshi, has been accused of stealing money and a mobile phone from her friend's residence in Bhopal on Wednesday.
The incident, which has caused embarrassment to the state police, occurred earlier this month; however, it came to light after a CCTV footage of the alleged act went viral on social media on Wednesday evening.
The complaint against DSP Raghuvanshi was lodged by her friend Pramila Tiwari, a resident of the Jahangirabad area in Bhopal, a police official informed IANS on the condition of anonymity.
As per police reports, Pramila Tiwari had filed a complaint stating that Raghuvanshi had stolen Rs 2 lakh in cash and a mobile phone from her home.
Tiwari informed the police that she had stored Rs 2 lakh for her child's school fees in a bag along with her mobile phone. She alleged that Raghuvanshi entered her home while she was taking a bath, taking both the cash and phone from her bag.
Feeling suspicious, Tiwari checked her CCTV footage, which clearly captured Raghuvanshi entering and exiting her home. A footage shared by Bhopal police on Wednesday also shows Raghuvanshi leaving with a bundle of cash in her hand.
Based on the evidence from the CCTV, Tiwari lodged a formal complaint with the police. An FIR was filed against Raghuvanshi, and the police headquarters has issued a departmental notice to her, as reported by police sources.
While the stolen mobile phone was eventually recovered from Raghuvanshi's residence, the Rs 2 lakh cash remains missing, and Kalpana Raghuvanshi is currently evading capture, according to a police official.
