Bhopal, Sep 24 (NationPress) The Bhopal Police have successfully apprehended two of the three individuals suspected of robbing IG Intelligence Dr. Ashish, whose mobile phones were taken late Tuesday night in Char Imli, one of the most secure and high-profile areas of the state capital.
As reported by Habibganj ACC Umesh Tiwari, Dr. Ashish was enjoying a post-dinner walk in the Char Imli vicinity when he was approached by three assailants on a motorcycle, who swiftly snatched both of his mobile devices.
"Upon receiving the report late last night, teams from the Crime Branch, Cyber Branch, and local police stations were promptly mobilized. A thorough search operation has been initiated to track down the unidentified culprits," Tiwari stated.
At the time of the incident, Dr. Ashish was using one phone while talking on the other. The suspects quickly seized both devices and escaped toward a nearby secluded park, according to police accounts.
This robbery has raised alarm within the police department.
As IG Intelligence, Dr. Ashish is tasked with managing sensitive law enforcement information across Madhya Pradesh. Reports suggest that one of the stolen phones contained classified crime data, including communications from district superintendents and special branch officers.
Moreover, it may also have contained strategic plans for upcoming operations, leading to serious concerns about potential data breaches and disruptions in law enforcement.
In the wake of the incident, senior officials rushed to the scene. The Bhopal Crime Branch, aided by teams from six police stations, launched an overnight search.
CCTV footage captured the suspects fleeing, aiding police in identifying and detaining six individuals for questioning. Two primary suspects have been arrested, while one remains on the run.
During the search, one of the stolen phones was recovered from Durga Nagar in the Chunabhatti police station area.
The second phone, which is believed to hold crucial intelligence, is still unaccounted for, according to police sources.
This incident has raised concerns regarding the preparedness of the Bhopal Police, particularly given the crime's location.
Char Imli is home to several high-ranking state officials, including the Director General of Police, a Deputy Chief Minister, numerous cabinet ministers, and senior bureaucrats.
The breach has prompted serious inquiries into the efficacy of security measures in the VIP zone. The police are continuing their efforts to locate the third suspect and recover the missing mobile phone, as pressure mounts to resolve the case quickly and protect sensitive information.
