Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Police successfully dismantled an interstate gang linked to theft incidents across several states, including Mumbai and Rajasthan, apprehending 32 individuals in Bhopal, as confirmed by officials.
Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra informed IANS that the operation stemmed from intelligence reports from various states, leading to the disruption of a complex criminal network.
Mishra revealed that authorities seized over a dozen mobile phones, two-wheelers, and various electronic devices.
The detained suspects are believed to be involved in numerous criminal activities throughout Madhya Pradesh and beyond.
“Reports indicated that the gang was executing crimes, including thefts in Mumbai and other regions of Maharashtra. They also had a presence in Rajasthan and several southern states,” Mishra elaborated.
During a raid in the Nishatpura area of Bhopal late Sunday, the gang attempted to incite chaos, but the operation proceeded successfully, resulting in the arrests.
“The suspects attempted to assault the police team, using women and children as shields, but our officers were well-prepared for the encounter. This is a vast network of thieves operating in a highly organized manner,” added Mishra.
Furthermore, the mastermind of the operation, Raju Irani, who has multiple criminal cases against him in Bhopal and elsewhere, was shielded by the gang.
Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects.
“We (Madhya Pradesh Police) are working to identify other gang members active in various states. Once we gather information, we will coordinate with police forces from multiple states to ensure their capture,” Mishra stated.
