Bhopal, Feb 11 (NationPress) In a significant operation, the Bhopal Police executed a thorough raid on the Irani Dera situated in Aman Colony, within the Nishatpura police jurisdiction, late Tuesday night, resulting in the apprehension of numerous individuals facing various criminal charges.
More than 400 law enforcement officials carried out the operation at approximately 2 a.m., maintaining strict confidentiality to prevent any of the suspects from being tipped off.
Residents were left in a state of shock as police secured the area from all sides in the dead of night.
During the raid, officers searched every residence, questioned potential suspects, and detained over 40 individuals, including women, for further interrogation.
According to police reports, some of those arrested are involved in serious criminal cases across Madhya Pradesh and other states.
Sources informed IANS that a wanted criminal, Shahadat, who had a bounty of Rs 138,000 on his head, was also captured. Authorities had been on the lookout for him for an extended period.
“A raid was executed at the Irani Dera in Bhopal’s Aman Colony during the midnight hours, leading to the apprehension of several suspects. They are currently under interrogation. The operation was spearheaded by DCP Mayur Khandelwal with the support of 2 ADCPs, 9 ACPs, and 20 TIs,” stated the Bhopal Police on Wednesday.
This operation was conducted under the oversight of the newly appointed Bhopal Police Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar, who has taken over from Harinarayanchari Mishra. The Commissioner is scheduled to provide more information during a press conference later on Wednesday.
This notable development follows a month after Bhopal Police arrested Abid Ali, also known as Raju or ‘Rahman Dakait’, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind a multi-state crime syndicate operating from the notorious Irani Dera in Bhopal.
Police reports state that Raju Irani was managing a network of gangs active in at least 14 states, involved in crimes ranging from robbery and fraud to extortion, impersonation, arson, and attempted murder.
Irani faces charges under the stringent MCOCA in Maharashtra and is known to disguise himself as a fake CBI officer, a police official in safari suits, or even as a sadhu to take advantage of religious beliefs.
