Mumbai, March 28 (NationPress) In an effort to enhance the Ease of Doing Business, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed major reforms to the state’s industrial licensing framework on Saturday.
Out of the 33 previously mandatory permissions, 20 will now operate under a self-certification model.
He reassured that steps are being taken to minimize the remaining 13 permissions soon.
The Chief Minister also announced that electricity tariffs in the state will gradually decline over the next five years.
These declarations were made during a seminar focused on the creation of a Bulk Drug Park and Life Sciences Hub.
In a bid to instill confidence among investors, Fadnavis dismissed forecasts of escalating costs, asserting that while electricity rates were anticipated to rise to Rs 15.87 per unit, government intervention will effectively reduce the current rate from Rs 10.88 to Rs 9.97 per unit.
He projected that by 2028-29, Maharashtra would rank as the state with the lowest electricity rates nationwide.
To cultivate a frictionless environment for businesses, the Maitri Portal has been granted comprehensive statutory powers for single-window clearance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
“All permissions will be accessible from a single source. Each application can be monitored in real time. Strict measures will be implemented against agencies that fail to deliver services in a timely manner,” the Chief Minister stated.
According to Fadnavis, the state is emphasizing green and sustainable infrastructure. Initiatives include the establishment of Common Effluent Treatment Plants and the adoption of circular economy principles to assist industries in transitioning to environmentally friendly technologies.
He underscored the government's dedication to promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Incentives will be extended not only to large industries but also to their suppliers and vendors.
