“Today marks a moment of dream fulfillment for the residents of Beed, as we celebrate the long-awaited railway project. The late Gopinathrao Munde and former MP Kesharkaku Kshirsagar were the visionaries behind this initiative. Gopinathrao Munde dedicated himself to making this railway a reality. Today, we honor his legacy with this achievement,” he remarked during the ceremony.
The event was graced by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, the guardian minister of Beed district, along with environment minister Pankaja Munde and other dignitaries.
“September 17 is not just a date; it is Marathwada Liberation Day and also coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Dedicating this significant railway project to the people of Beed makes today exceptionally special,” he added.
“Since 2014, both the central and state governments have collaborated to expedite this project. In the past decade, the Modi government allocated Rs 21,000 crore for railway developments in Marathwada, a stark increase from the mere Rs 450 crore received in the previous decade. This strategic investment is fulfilling the railway aspirations of Beed and Marathwada. The railway symbolizes much more than just a train; it represents a pathway for development,” stated the Chief Minister.
CM Fadnavis mentioned that 23 TMC of water allocated to Marathwada has reached Ashti. Plans are now underway to channel 36 TMC of floodwater from the Krishna basin to Ujani and subsequently to Marathwada. Moreover, 54 TMC of water from the Ulhas basin will be diverted to the Godavari basin, establishing a robust water network in Marathwada. He expressed his determination to eradicate drought in the region.
