Mumbai, Feb 5 (NationPress) The election campaign for the 12 Zilla Parishads and 125 Panchayat Samitis across Maharashtra concluded on Thursday.

Voting is scheduled for Saturday, taking place from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by the vote counting on Monday, February 9.

With the campaign now over, political parties and candidates are barred from disseminating advertisements via print, electronic media, or social platforms.

Elections are being held in the districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv, and Latur.

Each voter is expected to cast two votes, one for the Zilla Parishad electoral division and another for the Panchayat Samiti electoral college.

A total of 25,482 polling stations have been established.

In order to enhance the voting process, 51,537 control units and 110,329 ballot units (EVMs) are available.

The State Election Commission (SEC) is utilizing the assembly constituency voter lists prepared by the Election Commission of India.

The lists that are currently in place date back to July 1, 2025.

While the SEC cannot modify these lists, potential duplicates are marked with a double star (**).

To assist voters, the SEC has introduced the ‘Matadhikar’ mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, allowing individuals to locate their names, polling stations, and candidate details.

Voters can also search for their information using their full name or EPIC (Voter ID) number at the website: https://mahasecvoterlist.in/

At polling stations, priority will be given to senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, women with infants, and expectant mothers.

Temporary ramps and wheelchairs will be provided in areas lacking permanent ramp facilities.

All centers will offer electricity, drinking water, shade, and restroom facilities.

Polling stations with a significant female voter turnout will be managed exclusively by female officers and police personnel, and will be identified as “Pink Polling Booths.”

Around 128,000 election officials have been deployed, including 125 Returning Officers and 125 Assistant Returning Officers.

The BJP aims to replicate its success from recent elections held for nagar parishads, nagar panchayats, and municipal corporations, where it secured the top position, while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is optimistic about expanding its influence in these elections.

Conversely, the NCP anticipates benefitting from public sympathy following the unexpected passing of former deputy chief minister and party president, the late Ajit Pawar.

Interestingly, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP is contesting these elections in alliance with the NCP.

The Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) are participating independently, as the opposition has struggled to form a unified front against the BJP-led Mahayuti.
