Kolkata, April 20 (NationPress) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated on Saturday that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP are the primary culprits behind the instigation of communal violence within the state.
“The RSS and BJP are actively provoking communal tensions in West Bengal. The citizens must exercise caution and not fall prey to their provocations. The BJP and its affiliates have recently adopted a more aggressive stance in West Bengal, with the RSS being among these allies. They are exploiting the circumstances surrounding an unfortunate incident that arose from provocation to engage in divisive politics,” remarked the Chief Minister in her ‘open letter’.
She further asserted that these groups aim to “incite” riots that could have repercussions for all.
“We cherish unity. Our aim is to coexist peacefully. We denounce riots and stand firmly against them. They (RSS-BJP) seek to create divisions for their narrow electoral gains,” she expressed.
Additionally, she urged the public to maintain composure, emphasizing her condemnation of communal violence, which must be curtailed.
“Those responsible for the riots are being dealt with decisively. However, we must also work to eliminate mutual suspicion. Both majority and minority communities should collaborate and support one another,” she stated.
The Chief Minister mentioned that to uphold law and order and protect human dignity, the state government has taken significant measures.
“Two officers-in-charge have been dismissed, and the police are conducting further investigations. Additional actions will follow,” she confirmed.
