Kolkata, April 9 (NationPress) West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, declared on Thursday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is merely a "factory of outsiders" that has no relevance in the election-bound state.
While addressing a rally in Panihati, located in the North 24 Parganas district, Banerjee criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for emphasizing the problem of illegal infiltration in the region. She asserted that Bengalis are suffering in BJP-governed states, labeled as 'infiltrators'.
"If you converse in Bengali, you face harassment. Bengalis are unfairly targeted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Will the leaders in Delhi provide an explanation? Why are Bengalis considered infiltrators for merely speaking their native language? Who bears the responsibility for our borders? While some claim that the BJP is a factory for infiltrators, I maintain that they are a factory of outsiders. Bengal has no room for outsiders," stated the Chief Minister.
She also took aim at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of misusing central investigative agencies to undermine the Trinamool Congress.
"Oh Motabhai (referring to Amit Shah), you are using the ED and CBI to intimidate everyone. Your sole purpose seems to be to scold and threaten. While some bow to you, they (BJP) have tried relentlessly to bring me down but have failed. The more they attempt to weaken me, the stronger I become," she remarked.
Earlier that day, Banerjee reiterated her accusations against the BJP-led Union government for removing over 90 lakh names from the state's voter lists to secure power in West Bengal.
During a public rally at Minakhan, also in the North 24 Parganas, the Trinamool Congress leader announced that her party would seek judicial intervention to restore the names of those voters who were unjustly removed.
"You (BJP-led Union government) erased the names of over 90 lakh citizens to seize control of Bengal, but we (Trinamool Congress) will triumph in this election," she concluded.
This statement came after nearly 91 lakh voters' names were deleted from West Bengal's electoral rolls following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in the state.
