Kolkata, April 4 (NationPress) - On Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged voters to stop the voting process if any malfunctions with the electronic voting machines (EVMs) are detected during the upcoming two-phase Assembly elections scheduled for later this month.

She also cautioned voters to be on guard against potential attempts by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to obstruct genuine voters from accessing polling stations with the assistance of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.

“The BJP may attempt to hinder authentic voters from reaching polling stations on election day with the help of CAPF. EVMs are produced by a central government body. If any EVM issues arise, do not vote and halt the polling. Demand the provision of new EVMs. Stay alert for power outages before or during the counting process and ensure the security of EVM strong rooms at all times. Women should particularly take the forefront in this effort,” stated the Chief Minister during a campaign rally in Malda district.

Additionally, she warned voters about possible moves by the BJP to introduce outsiders into various areas. “Be vigilant regarding outsiders in your neighborhoods leading up to the election. Monitor their stay and watch for any attempts to entice voters with monetary offers. After securing victory in Bengal this year, our focus will shift to New Delhi,” she expressed.

The Chief Minister went on to claim that the Congress, which maintains a strong presence in Malda district, has a covert arrangement with the BJP for the current Assembly elections.

“This hidden collaboration was evident in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and continues to this day. The CPI-M also appears to share a secret understanding with the BJP. Therefore, voting for either Congress or CPI-M equates to voting for the BJP. Please do not split your votes by supporting Congress or CPI-M,” she advised.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has submitted a roster of 40 star campaigners for the upcoming elections set for April 23 and April 29.

Notably, the first two names on this roster are Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, the party’s national general secretary and Lok Sabha MP. The list also includes nearly all MPs and key MLA candidates among the 40 star campaigners.
