Kolkata, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Chief of BJP's IT Cell and special observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, stated on Tuesday that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's unjustified criticism of Maha Kumbh reflects her growing apprehension regarding potential defeat in the upcoming Assembly elections in 2026.

During her address at the Assembly, responding to Governor C.V. Ananda Bose's opening remarks on February 10, the Chief Minister asserted that the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj had transformed into a “Mrityu Kumbh” due to poor management and the indulgence of VVIP culture at this grand event.

She further alleged that the occasion was exploited for substantial financial gain.

In response to Banerjee's comments, Malviya reminded her of her loss in the 2021 elections from the Nandigram Assembly constituency to the current Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, attributing it to the unification of Hindu votes against her.

He also argued that the recent defeat of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi Assembly elections has left Mamata Banerjee feeling unsettled.

“Mamata Banerjee's unwarranted attack on the Maha Kumbh signifies the initial indication of her impending defeat in 2026. She is exceedingly anxious following Arvind Kejriwal's total downfall in Delhi. Previously, like Kejriwal, she faced electoral defeat in Nandigram. This time, her fears are escalating,” asserted Malviya.

Earlier, Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the Chief Minister was increasingly alarmed by the recent enthusiasm among the Hindu community towards the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and the consolidated support of Hindu votes for the BJP in the Assembly elections across Maharashtra, Haryana, and Delhi.

Adhikari also called upon the Hindu saint community to strongly condemn the Chief Minister's remarks regarding Maha Kumbh.
