Imphal, Dec 12 (NationPress) The top brass of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called upon all party MLAs from Manipur to gather for a crucial meeting in New Delhi this coming Sunday. Party officials suggest that the focus of the discussions will likely revolve around the formation of a new government.

As speculation mounts about the establishment of a new government, along with increasing demands from numerous BJP MLAs and leaders for the party to assume leadership, this meeting has garnered significant political attention.

Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh confirmed the meeting scheduled for Sunday, stating that the central leadership has mandated the presence of every BJP MLA from the state.

While attending the 86th Nupi Lal Day, he remarked that although no official agenda has been shared, discussions concerning the formation of a new government are anticipated.

“BJP MLAs are being summoned to Delhi to evaluate the current situation in Manipur. While the exact agenda remains unspecified, it might relate to government formation,” he informed the media.

Strife-stricken Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February 13, following the resignation of N. Biren Singh from the Chief Minister's role.

The 60-member state Assembly, which has been placed under suspended animation post the declaration of President’s Rule, is set to last until 2027.

Recently, two prominent central BJP leaders, National General Secretary (Organisation) B. L. Santhosh and the party’s Northeast coordinator Sambit Patra, visited Manipur and conducted multiple meetings with state party leaders and MLAs, heightening speculation regarding the potential formation of a new government in the Northeastern state.

Back in October, 26 BJP MLAs, including Biren Singh, had met with Santhosh and Patra in New Delhi, urging them to “install a government that resonates with the populace” in Manipur, expressing their eagerness to return to governance as a united front.

Former Chief Minister Biren Singh recently emphasized that all BJP legislators in Manipur are united in their mission to establish a government that reflects the people's will.

He noted that the process of government formation is already in motion but refrained from commenting on individual opinions expressed by legislators.

Concerned about the hardships faced by violence-affected Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in relief camps, Singh highlighted the urgent need to address their challenges and enhance their living conditions.

“There is a demand from the public and our side to resolve the issues faced by the displaced individuals and others. Their challenges can only be addressed by forming a government that is representative of the people,” Singh remarked recently.

He asserted that establishing a stable and representative government is essential to confronting the ongoing humanitarian crises in the state.

“Once a popularly elected government is in place, addressing the concerns of the displaced families and other state issues will become our highest priority,” he concluded.
