Officials stated that any attempt to incite violence or disrupt societal harmony will be met with strict legal action.
The Chief Secretary of Manipur, Prashant Kumar Singh, emphasized that it is vital for all residents to remain composed and avoid falling victim to misleading information that could lead to confusion and unrest. He pointed out that there has been a troubling rise in the circulation of false information through various channels.
Singh highlighted that certain unscrupulous individuals and groups may be deliberately trying to stir unrest and spread fear among the populace using false narratives and inflammatory content.
To combat this issue, the government has established a Control Room where citizens can verify news and information. This facility operates around the clock. The Chief Secretary reiterated that maintaining peace and lawfulness is a shared responsibility and urged vigilance against those attempting to create disturbances.
He reiterated that any efforts to instigate violence or disrupt harmony would face stringent repercussions under the law.
Singh called upon community leaders, civil society organizations, religious figures, student groups, intellectuals, and citizens to unite in promoting harmony and rebuilding trust across all communities. He urged everyone to prioritize peace, understanding, and developmental efforts for the state's betterment.
For any inquiries, citizens are encouraged to reach out to the Control Room or their nearest authorities. Together, let’s strive to keep our state safe, peaceful, and united.
In a proactive measure against illegal extortion targeting civilians, government employees, contractors, and others, the Manipur government has also announced the formation of an Integrated Anti-Extortion Cell under its Home Department. This cell will include representatives from the State Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Assam Rifles, and the Army.
