Imphal, Nov 6 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur commended the remarkable strides in crucial sectors like health and education during her visit to Jiribam district, which features a diverse population.

During a district-level meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, she engaged with district administration and officials from various departments to assess the Central schemes and projects.

The departmental officials showcased the successful implementations of various schemes and flagship programs in the district, adjacent to southern Assam.

She praised the outstanding execution of the Communicable Disease Control Programme and the National Child Health Programme within the health sector.

On the educational front, she pointed out that Jiribam district boasts 110 private schools, with a primary school located within every one-kilometre radius.

An official statement revealed some significant achievements highlighted by the visiting minister, including the residential school at Lalpani that provides boarding and lodging for children from remote regions, ongoing water supply projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission, advancements in the electricity sector, and a focus on road infrastructure.

Minister Thakur emphasized the significance of the Jiribam-Tipaimukh Main road project, a 32-kilometre stretch connecting National Highway 37 to the Manipur-Mizoram border. She stated that this project is crucial for enhancing public transport accessibility and linking remote areas.
