Amaravati, Jan 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing attention to the remarkable water conservation efforts spearheaded by the residents of Anantapur during his radio show, Mann Ki Baat.

“Thank you, Hon’ble Prime Minister, for showcasing the inspiring endeavors of Anantapur’s citizens in water conservation during your inaugural Mann Ki Baat of the year today,” the Chief Minister shared on X.

Naidu emphasized that ensuring water security is part of the “Padi Sutralus” (10-point principles) established under the Swarna Andhra Vision.

“We are dedicated to creating robust water conservation infrastructure by merging modern technology with traditional water management techniques. Your message today serves as a tremendous motivation for us in this pursuit,” he stated.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the community-driven water conservation initiative in Anantapur, commending the active involvement of local residents.

He noted that the area has faced persistent drought challenges due to its red sandy soil and unpredictable rainfall.

“The soil in this region is red and sandy, which contributes to water scarcity. Numerous areas experience prolonged dry spells. Many times, people liken Anantapur to a desert in terms of drought conditions,” the Prime Minister remarked.

He revealed that, in response to these challenges, locals pledged to restore reservoirs and, with administrative backing, initiated the ‘Ananta Neeru Samarakshanam’ project.

The Prime Minister mentioned that over 10 reservoirs have been revitalized through this initiative and are currently brimming with water. Additionally, more than 7,000 trees have been planted, leading to an enhancement in green coverage.

“In Anantapur, not only is water conservation improving, but greenery is also on the rise. Children can now enjoy swimming here. In essence, the entire ecosystem has rejuvenated,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi also shared a video showcasing the water conservation efforts in Anantapur on X, accompanied by a post in Telugu.

“I extend my congratulations to the people of Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh who are dedicated to the rejuvenation of water tanks,” he wrote.
