New Delhi, Sep 3 (NationPress) Esteemed lyricist and poet Manoj Muntashir recently recounted a profoundly emotional experience of recording a touching letter composed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly after the death of his mother, Heeraben Modi. The 17-page letter, filled with cherished memories and heartfelt gratitude, served as a tribute to his mother’s enduring life and influence.
In a post on the social media platform X, Muntashir stated:
“Following his mother's demise, PM @NarendraModi authored a 17-page letter for her. Every line was infused with love, appreciation, and reminiscences. I had the honor of recording them in my voice. While doing so, I couldn't contain my tears.”
“This letter illustrated how Hiraba was not merely the mother of Narendra Modi, but also his mentor, his source of strength, and his initial teacher. What I expected to be a brief recording extended significantly. We had to pause after every couple of lines—the emotions were so intense that I struggled to suppress my tears,” he further expressed.
Muntashir’s poignant reflection surfaces amid political tensions surrounding the Voter Adhikar Yatra organized by the INDIA bloc in Bihar. During a rally in Darbhanga, inappropriate and allegedly derogatory remarks were made concerning PM Modi’s late mother, leading to widespread disapproval.
Indirectly alluding to this incident, Muntashir commented:
“Any effort to demean that sacred bond between a mother and son is profoundly unfortunate.”
Muntashir's post included a video shared by the social media account 'Modi Story,' showcasing how he was invited to lend his voice to the letter.
“I received a call indicating that a letter had been written by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for his departed mother, and he wished for me to record it. I immediately agreed,” he recounted.
As he commenced recording, Muntashir admitted he was unprepared for the emotional impact of the words.
“I will always remember that moment. As I started recording that seventeen-page letter, I recognized how deeply moving it was. If one spends two minutes on each page, that’s how impactful and heartfelt it was.”
“It comprised seventeen pages. Every word was laden with compassion. I could manage only two or three lines at a time before being overwhelmed with emotion. Hira Ben Ji was not my mother, but during the entire recording process, it felt as if I had lost my own mother,” he added.
The letter, which was later made public, provided rare insight into the Prime Minister’s personal sorrow and the profound connection he had with his mother.
Heeraben Modi passed away at the age of 99 on December 30, 2022, in Ahmedabad. She resided in Raysan village near Gandhinagar, and the Prime Minister was known to visit her regularly during his trips to Gujarat.
