The latest encounter, which took place on Saturday morning, involved a joint operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Upampalli under the jurisdiction of the Keralapal police station.

A total of 17 Maoists, including 11 women, were killed during this engagement.

Just a few days prior, on March 25, security forces had neutralized three Maoists, including Sudhir a.k.a. Sudhakar, who had a bounty of Rs 25 lakh on his head.

In the Bastar region, security forces have eliminated 100 Maoists in 2025, with 49 of them taken down in just 10 days from March 20 to March 29.
