Bhopal, March 20 (NationPress) In a major operation along the Dantewada-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh, security forces successfully eliminated two Maoists.

Sadly, the operation also resulted in the death of a courageous District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan.

Another mission is currently underway at the Narayanpur-Dantewada border. A reliable police source confirmed the information and informed IANS via phone that two operations are occurring simultaneously: one on the Dantewada-Bijapur border and another at the Narayanpur-Dantewada border.

During the confrontation on the Dantewada-Bijapur border, two Maoists were killed while one DRG jawan was martyred. The exchange of fire continues from both sides.

In the ongoing operation, two soldiers have sustained injuries due to an IED blast.

The forces have penetrated deep into the Maoist territory, engaged in fierce crossfire.

Initial reports suggest considerable losses for the Maoists.

Meanwhile, two injured personnel from an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) explosion in the Thulthuli area near the Narayanpur-Dantewada border have been hospitalized. Both are currently reported to be stable. Further details are not yet available, but one injured is a jawan and the other is a DSP (deputy superintendent of police) rank officer.

The search operation in the area proceeds relentlessly.

Based on intelligence regarding a significant Maoist presence in the Gangaloor region, the police initiated a joint operation along the Dantewada-Bijapur border.

On Wednesday, troops had already encircled the Andri area, and by Thursday morning, clashes with the Maoists began, the source stated.

Bijapur and Narayanpur Superintendents of Police (SPs) are actively involved in the operation.

A clear picture will emerge only after the operation concludes.

The source further mentioned that reinforcements have been dispatched from Hiroli while the operation remains ongoing.

This follows a significant operation on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border, where over 1,000 soldiers eliminated 31 Naxalites in the Indravati National Park area of Bijapur. All 31 bodies were recovered. That encounter also resulted in the martyrdom of one DRG and one STF soldier, while two others were injured and subsequently airlifted to Raipur for treatment.
