Raipur, April 25 (NationPress) With increasing pressure, the Maoists have released a press statement, urging for an immediate halt to the extraordinary joint operation targeting Maoist insurgents, which has been jointly executed by the forces of Chhattisgarh and Telangana since Monday.

For the past four days, the forces have surrounded the Karregatta hills in Bijapur district, which borders Telangana. This location serves as a critical stronghold for Maoist leaders, lying along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana frontier.

Rupesh, who identifies as the head of the North West Sub Zonal Bureau, called upon the government via a “press note” to withdraw forces and engage in dialogue to settle the conflict.

He stressed that delaying military action for a month could create a favorable atmosphere for discussions, possibly leading to fruitful outcomes.

He insisted that the operation should be halted immediately, and forces should be withdrawn.

“We are appealing to the government to resolve the issue through dialogue, fostering a supportive environment,” he stated.

According to the pamphlet (reported as a press note) he issued, this approach would yield positive results by postponing military operations for a month.

“We anticipate a constructive response from the government regarding our appeal,” the note stated.

A joint operation involving hundreds of soldiers has been ongoing against the Maoists in this region for the last four days.

As of now, reports indicate that six Maoists have been killed in sporadic gunfire.

Karregatta is where several Maoists, including notorious commanders like Hidma, Deva, and Damodar, are currently based.

During the Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC), the security forces from Chhattisgarh and Telangana have initiated the most extensive joint operation against the Maoists.

This marks the first instance in Chhattisgarh's history where security forces have embarked on a decisive campaign against the Maoists.

Reports suggest that several hundred special commandos have encircled numerous Maoists in this encounter.

This area, surrounded by the dense forests of Karregatta, Nadpalli, and Pujari Kanker, is regarded as the base of Maoist Battalion No 1.

Experts indicate that the Maoists currently have no escape route.

In a significant crackdown on Maoist insurgents, security forces in Chhattisgarh have undertaken a large-scale operation, which has already led to the deaths of three Maoists, with their bodies recovered by the police.

Officials have stated that numerous Maoists are believed to be hiding in the area that has been cordoned off by the forces.

The encounter has been characterized as fierce and intense, with further developments expected once the operation concludes.

This joint operation, which includes police forces from Telangana and Chhattisgarh, is the largest of its kind along the border of the two states to date.

Approximately 150 Maoists have been surrounded, and gunfire exchanges have continued for three days.

Among those encircled are prominent Maoist leaders such as Hidma, Deva, and Damodar, each carrying a bounty of one crore.

The ongoing confrontation indicates that several high-profile insurgents may be neutralized.
