Hyderabad, April 27 (NationPress) The president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), called on the BJP-led central government to halt its operation Kagar against Maoists and engage them in peace negotiations.
KCR criticized the extensive operation by security forces against the Communist Party of India (Maoist) in Chhattisgarh, stating that the massacre was unjustifiable.
Speaking at a large public gathering in Elkathurthy, Hanamkonda district, commemorating the silver jubilee of BRS, KCR asserted that tribals and youth in Chhattisgarh were suffering fatalities under the guise of Operation Kagar.
He urged the central government to cease the violence, highlighting that the Maoists were open to discussions and the government should heed their call.
“It is inappropriate to indulge in a killing spree simply because you possess military might,” he expressed.
During this significant public address, KCR launched a fierce critique of the Congress-led government in the state for its unfulfilled commitments and failures.
KCR, who served as chief minister for nearly ten years post the establishment of Telangana, claimed that the conditions of 2014 have resurfaced due to the Congress government's reversal of the BRS's achievements.
He, who initiated the TRS (now BRS) in 2001 to rejuvenate the Telangana movement, reminisced about the party's success in attaining the goal of a separate Telangana.
KCR labeled the Congress party as the “primary antagonist” of Telangana. He recalled how Jawaharlal Nehru forcibly integrated Telangana with Andhra in 1956, and how the Congress suppressed the Telangana movement in 1969. He accused Congress of playing tricks to deny statehood to Telangana after announcing it in 2009, emphasizing that a mass movement eventually realized this goal.
“Then, now, and forever, Congress persists as the primary antagonist of Telangana,” he affirmed.
The former chief minister remarked on the Congress's unmatched ability to engage in “deception” and make hollow promises.
KCR reassured that BRS would not seek to overthrow the Congress government, stating, “The people will impart a fitting lesson to them,” expressing confidence that BRS would regain power.
He asserted that under BRS governance, Telangana has emerged as a progressive state with comprehensive development. The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has reached national peaks, and Telangana's per capita income has soared to Rs 3.5 lakh.
KCR highlighted the transformation of vast dry regions into fertile farmland through initiatives like Kaleshwaram and other irrigation projects, which now yield an impressive 3.5 crore tonnes of paddy annually.
The BRS chief also elaborated on the Rythu Bandhu scheme, which supports farmers' crop investments, along with other initiatives like providing 24-hour free electricity to farmers and Mission Bhagiratha, aimed at ensuring drinking water access for every household.
He criticized the Congress for making numerous commitments during elections that they failed to deliver. “While we provided Rs 2,000 as pension, they claimed they would offer Rs 4,000. We allocated Rs 10,000 under Rythu Bandhu, but they promised Rs 15,000. They also guaranteed scooties for girl students, waivers on crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh with a single signature, and gold along with Rs 1 lakh under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. The pension increase has not materialized, and the farm loan waivers remain incomplete. They deceived the public with empty promises,” he stated.
Expressing his distress over the current state of Telangana, where power outages have returned, farmers are losing pump motors, and water scarcity prevails, KCR questioned the decline in land prices and the lack of paddy procurement from farmers.
The BRS chief vowed to persist in advocating for the people of Telangana and reiterated that the populace would hold the Congress party accountable for their betrayals.
