New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) In a pivotal decision, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati on Monday removed her nephew, Akash Anand, from the party, asserting that this choice was made in the “interest of the party.” This action followed a high-level meeting where Mayawati assessed the party's leadership and implemented significant structural modifications to enhance its presence nationwide.

Mayawati took to X to announce the dismissal, stating, “In the All-India meeting of BSP yesterday, Mr. Akash Anand was relieved of all responsibilities, including National Coordinator, due to his ongoing association with the influence of his already expelled father-in-law, Mr. Ashok Siddharth, rather than the interest of the party. He was expected to show maturity and regret for his actions. However, his lengthy and detailed response reflects not regret or political maturity but instead reveals a selfish, arrogant, and non-missionary attitude, influenced by his father-in-law. I have always advised and reprimanded individuals who exhibit such self-centered conduct.”

Mayawati elaborated that Akash’s conduct indicated a lack of political maturity, and his reaction to the expulsion verdict demonstrated that he had not gained any insight from the incident.

“Thus, in the interest of the self-respect and self-pride movement of the revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and in accordance with the disciplinary tradition of the esteemed Shri Kanshiram Ji, Mr. Akash Anand, like his father-in-law, is expelled from the party in the interest of the party and the movement,” she added.

This decision follows an earlier statement by Mayawati that no successor would be appointed to lead the party during her lifetime. During the meeting, she designated her brother, Anand Kumar, and Ramji Gautam as national coordinators to manage party affairs throughout India.

Analysts suggest that the expulsion of Akash Anand signifies a crucial shift in BSP’s internal dynamics and highlights Mayawati’s strong dedication to the party's principles. The party will undoubtedly face intense scrutiny in the upcoming months as it adjusts to these new leadership changes, analysts assert.
