Hyderabad, March 19 (NationPress) The renowned American fast food chain McDonald's is set to open its India office along with a Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad, as revealed in an announcement on Wednesday.

This decision followed a meeting between McDonald’s Chairman & CEO Chris Kempczinski and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

The Chief Minister’s office reported that the global office is expected to start with a workforce of 2,000 employees.

The Telangana government highlighted that it secured this significant agreement amidst fierce competition from other states. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally ensured that the state presented an optimal proposal to attract the multinational.

Kempczinski noted that Hyderabad was chosen over other cities like Bangalore due to its access to high-quality talent, robust infrastructure, and excellent living standards.

This collaboration will facilitate McDonald’s investment in the Global Capability Centre (GCC), which will serve as a skilling hub for training personnel for all McDonald’s operations in India and abroad.

The Chief Minister emphasized the unmatched skilling initiatives by the state government over the past 15 months and urged McDonald’s to leverage the Young India Skills University for sourcing trained employees for its global office and restaurant franchises across the country.

He also proposed sourcing all agricultural products needed by McDonald’s from local farmers, which will boost the state’s agricultural economy and increase farmers' incomes.

Kempczinski shared insights about the community development initiatives that McDonald's conducts globally and expressed commitment to enhance such programs in Telangana in partnership with the government.

Accompanying Kempczinski were Skye Anderson, President of Global Business Services, Jon Banner, Chief Global Impact Officer, and Deshant Kaila, Head of GBS India.

Currently, McDonald's, through its Indian business partner, operates 38 outlets in Telangana and intends to establish an additional 3-4 locations each year, including in tier two and three towns.
