New Delhi, March 11 (NationPress) Following the recent violent episode in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, victims have bravely shared their harrowing accounts of the violence that erupted after India’s triumph over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy final on Sunday.

The festivities that began with jubilation quickly transformed into a violent confrontation, resulting in multiple injuries.

Ranjeet, a victim, recounted, "We were chanting slogans, enjoying ourselves and just having a good time. Suddenly, some individuals began hurling stones at us. We fled for our lives, and both I and the children sustained injuries. Nine of us were hurt in the chaos."

Ritesh, another injured person, described a similar ordeal, explaining how the once-peaceful celebration escalated into danger.

"We were merely celebrating when suddenly petrol bombs were launched at us. My home is close by, and I was celebrating there. Where else could I have celebrated? I was assaulted with stones and petrol bombs. I was in a state of confusion. If I had run, I might have perished. The injury I suffered that day was solely due to the attack," he stated.

"The administration intervened to help us, even though they were also attacked. They sought permission from the Maulana to stop our celebration, but what kind of prayer were we interrupting at midnight? Celebrating our country's victory in India shouldn't require permission. This was a conspiracy against us Hindus; they merely intended to assault us," he added.

Sumit, who suffered critical injuries from a petrol bomb, remarked, "We were enjoying the celebration, and out of nowhere, petrol bombs were hurled at us. I was celebrating at home, which is nearby. The moment I stepped outside, I was engulfed in chaos. We were bombarded with stones and petrol bombs. I was so bewildered, I didn't know whether to flee or stay."

Ashish, another victim, recalled, "We were engrossed in celebration, completely unaware that we would be attacked. They commenced by throwing petrol bombs and then stones. One of the stones struck me in the mouth."

The violence erupted shortly after the Indian cricket team secured victory in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in a nail-biting finish. The celebrations turned grim around 10:30 p.m. in the Jama Masjid area of Mhow, near Indore, when a victory procession triggered a dispute over the use of firecrackers.

This quickly escalated into a confrontation, with stone-pelting spreading across various locations, including Manak Chowk, Patti Bazaar, and Market Chowk.

The situation spiraled out of control as two opposing factions clashed, leading to widespread chaos. Local authorities are currently investigating the incident, which has raised alarms concerning communal tensions during festive occasions.
