Minister Affirms Ayush Ministry's Dedication to Promoting Ayurveda as a Global Health Solution

New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Ministry of Ayush is resolutely focused on promoting Ayurveda as a universal health solution and bolstering its international presence, according to Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State for Ayush and Health and Family Welfare, on Sunday.

Commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi for emphasizing the growing global appeal of Ayurveda during the 117th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Jadhav mentioned that the ministry has been leading initiatives that have greatly widened the global reach of Ayurveda.

“The Ayush Ministry has forged 24 country-level and 48 institute-level MoUs, encouraging collaborative research and educational efforts. Furthermore, 15 academic chairs have been set up worldwide to enhance Ayurveda education and research. Ayush Information Cells are operational in 39 locations across 35 countries, acting as vital knowledge centers,” the minister elaborated.

Other significant achievements include the Donor Agreement with WHO, the MoU on Medicinal Plants Cooperation with Vietnam, and a groundbreaking agreement on Ayurveda with Malaysia and Mauritius.

These collaborations further India’s vision of holistic health for everyone.

“The establishment of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar and the inclusion of traditional medicine in ICD-11 by WHO this year signify a major advancement in the global recognition of Ayurveda,” he added.

Initiatives such as the ‘Ayush Visa’ are promoting medical tourism, positioning India as a favored destination for holistic healing.

The successful observance of the 9th Ayurveda Day, celebrated on October 29 this year across 150 countries, further attests to the increasing global acceptance of Ayurveda.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi remarked, “There is a country in South America called Paraguay. The number of Indians living there would not be more than one thousand. A wonderful effort is being done in Paraguay. At the Indian Embassy in Paraguay, Erica Huber offers Ayurveda Consultation. A large number of local people are reaching out to her to get Ayurveda-based advice.”

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, stated that PM Modi’s vision has been crucial in fostering the global acceptance of Ayush.

“The network of international collaborations through Ayush institutions is consistently growing and underscores India’s leadership in traditional medicine and its importance in global healthcare,” he remarked.
