2024: A Pivotal Year for Ayush According to Central Government

New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) The year 2024 has been a pivotal year for Ayush, highlighting remarkable advancements towards the worldwide acknowledgment and promotion of traditional medicine, as stated by the Ayush Ministry on Monday.

In 2024, Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy were assimilated into mainstream health systems globally, alongside significant agreements with various nations and international organizations.

“2024 has been a year of notable achievements, new partnerships, and global acknowledgment for the Ministry of Ayush,” the statement mentioned.

Key accomplishments include the integration of data and terminology regarding diseases based on Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani Medicine in the WHO Disease Classification Series ICD-11.

The government inaugurated the Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy in Haryana’s Jhajjar to enhance research and provide state-of-the-art Yoga and Naturopathy healthcare services.

The Centre also set up an Ayush Holistic Wellness Center within the premises of the Supreme Court of India.

The Ayush Ministry established a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Women and Children to improve nutrition in adolescent girls through Ayurvedic interventions.

Other significant joint initiatives between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Ayush include the establishment of six Ayush-ICMR Advanced Centres for Integrated Health Research across four AIIMS locations: Delhi, Jodhpur, Nagpur, and Rishikesh.

In 2024, the Ministry of Ayush also focused on enhancing global partnerships with the Republic of Zimbabwe, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

These collaborations aimed to explore future partnerships in traditional medicine, reinforcing Ayush as a global leader in wellness and healthcare.

During the celebration of Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched, inaugurated, and laid the foundation stone for multiple health sector initiatives worth approximately Rs 12,850 crore at the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi.

PM Modi also inaugurated Phase II of India's First All-India Institute of Ayurveda in Delhi, with a total investment of Rs 258.73 crore.

This project features essential components such as a 150-bed Panchakarma hospital, an Ayurvedic pharmacy for drug manufacturing, a sports medicine unit, a central library, an IT and start-ups center, a 500-seat auditorium, and accommodations for both domestic and international visitors.

A nationwide campaign promoting health awareness and emphasizing the significance of holistic well-being in daily life has also been launched.

This initiative aims to transform health awareness efforts among citizens and will attempt to set several Guinness World Records.

Furthermore, four Centers of Excellence in Ayush, each focusing on distinct health research and innovation areas, have been established.

The Centers are dedicated to research in prediabetes and diabetes, validation of Ayurvedic formulations; developing advanced technological solutions, supporting start-ups, and creating net-zero sustainable solutions for Rasaushadhis; conducting advanced research on Ayurvedic botanicals like Ashwagandha; and investigating the molecular mechanisms of Ayurvedic treatments for rheumatoid arthritis using systems medicine.

"With a progressive agenda, the Ministry remains dedicated to ensuring that traditional medicine and wellness practices continue to play a crucial role in promoting health, sustainability, and global collaboration," the Ministry stated.
