The Ministry of Ayush is actively advancing artificial intelligence (AI) as the next frontier for Ayurveda and the broader Ayush sector, according to an official statement released on Saturday, 19 September 2026. The ministry has been systematically exploring AI applications across healthcare delivery, research, education, information services, and investment facilitation, building an emerging ecosystem that spans both specialised Ayush-focused tools and wider collaborations with national AI programmes.

National AI Collaborations Driving the Push

The ministry's expanding AI ecosystem is being built in part through active participation in the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge, which focuses on developing AI-enabled solutions tailored specifically to the Ayush sector. Key use cases under development include voice-based Electronic Health Records (EHRs), disease-trend detection, and personalised treatment-support solutions, all aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and clinical insights across Ayurveda and allied systems.

Additionally, the ministry has collaborated with IndiaAI and the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This partnership opens avenues for integrating language technologies, digital health tools, and advanced computing into the Ayush ecosystem. The ministry's datasets and artefacts are now available on AI Kosh, supporting broader AI research and dissemination in the Ayurveda and Ayush domains.

Multilingual Access Through Bhashini

Through its collaboration with Bhashini, the Ayush Grid portals — including those serving Ayurveda practitioners, students, and citizens — are now accessible in 22 scheduled languages of India. This development significantly expands the reach of Ayush services across the country's vast linguistic diversity, enabling wider public participation at the grassroots level.

AI Chatbots Expanding Citizen Services

At the citizen-facing level, a suite of purpose-built chatbots has been deployed to make Ayush-related information more accessible and interactive. The MAISP Chatbot provides Ayush information through a conversational interface, while the ARP Research Assistant — a Generative AI (GenAI)-based tool — helps researchers navigate Ayurveda and Ayush literature more efficiently through the Ayush Research Portal.

The eLMS Chatbot introduces AI-based Student Life Cycle Management for Ayurveda and other Ayush education institutions. The e-CHARAK Chatbot functions as a medicinal-plant trade assistant, connecting conversational AI with the pharmacological ecosystem underpinning Ayurvedic practice. Yoga Saarthi offers AI-driven yoga recommendations, and Nivesh Saarthi serves as an AI investment facilitation assistant for the Ayush sector.

From Digital Portals to Intelligent Platforms

Together, these initiatives signal a deliberate shift in the Ayush Grid's identity — from static digital portals to interactive, intelligent, and user-oriented AI services. The integration of GenAI, language AI, and health informatics into a traditional medicine framework is notable for its scale and ambition. As the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge matures and more datasets are opened on AI Kosh, the ministry's AI roadmap is expected to deepen further across all Ayush verticals.
