Ranchi, March 11 (NationPress) Defending the police encounter of Jharkhand's infamous gangster Aman Sahu, state Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu stated that those who challenge the law and the administration must face the repercussions.
Speaking to reporters at the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, the Urban Development, Higher Education, and Tourism Minister noted, “The rule of law will prevail in every situation. The government will initiate legal actions against those who violate the law.”
He mentioned that he became aware of Sahu's death through media announcements and is awaiting further information. “An investigation will be launched to clarify the circumstances surrounding the encounter,” he added.
The Minister highlighted that this incident should act as a warning to criminals. “If anyone attempts to take the law into their own hands, the state government will not allow it. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our citizens,” he stated.
When questioned if the encounter was reminiscent of the bulldozer policy in Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Sonu refuted the comparison. “Here, the rule of law will take precedence, not bulldozer rule. Demolishing someone’s residence without proper legal procedure is bulldozer rule. However, if the police act in self-defense, it cannot be classified as such.”
Senior JMM MLA Hemlal Murmu also supported the police action, pointing out that Aman Sahu was engaged in various criminal activities and had associations with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
“If the Hemant Soren government is taking action against such criminals, it is commendable. Until now, only Yogi Adityanath had undertaken such measures. Now, Jharkhand will follow this path,” he commented, while asserting that the state's strategy is different from that of Uttar Pradesh.
BJP MLA from Barkatha, Amit Yadav, also backed the encounter. “Actions should have consequences. This was the appropriate step,” he remarked.
On the other hand, BJP MLA from Barkagaon, Roshanlal Choudhary, criticized the administration's management of law and order. “Crime has escalated in the state. The NTPC Deputy General Manager was murdered in my area. This government has not succeeded in controlling crime,” he stated.
