Ranchi, March 12 (NationPress) Following the fatal encounter of Aman Sahu, a notorious gangster from Jharkhand, in Palamu district, the state's police force has initiated a comprehensive operation targeting his gang members. Under the direction of Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta, an FIR has been filed against 30 gang affiliates under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with extensive raids being carried out statewide to capture them.
On Wednesday, the Ranchi Police apprehended three suspected shooters associated with the gang: Ajay Singh, Sameer Bagchi alias Kallu Bengali, and Wasim Ansari. These individuals are alleged to have instilled fear and executed shootings in Ranchi and the coal mining regions of Hazaribagh at Sahu's command. Authorities recovered pistols, a homemade firearm, and multiple magazines from their possession.
As reported by police officials, Ajay Singh has over 14 criminal cases registered against him, residing in Sikidiri area of Ranchi. In addition, Sameer Bagchi, from Ratu locality, has more than six cases pending, while Wasim Ansari faces four charges.
The arrests followed a recent incident on March 7, where Vipin Mishra, a coal trader, was shot at in broad daylight in Bariatu area of Ranchi. Mishra narrowly escaped the attack, which was claimed by Mayank Singh, a significant member of Aman Sahu's gang, on social media.
Authorities are currently interrogating the three suspects regarding the attack on Mishra. In a recent social media post, Mayank Singh announced that he and Aman Singh would now lead the gang, asserting that Aman Sahu was the victim of a staged encounter.
Aman Sahu, implicated in over 150 crimes across various states including Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, was fatally shot in a police encounter on Tuesday morning in Chainpur, Palamu district.
There are also suspicions regarding the Sahu gang's involvement in the recent murder of Kumar Gaurav, the Deputy General Manager (Dispatch) of NTPC in Hazaribagh.
