New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reaffirmed his commitment to shaping a better future for the next generations following his meeting with Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates.
In response to Gates' social media update on platform X, PM Modi expressed, “As always, an excellent meeting with Bill Gates. We discussed a variety of topics, including technology, innovation, and sustainability, aimed at ensuring a brighter future for the upcoming generations.”
This marks Gates' third visit to India within three years, where he has been involved in high-level discussions concerning artificial intelligence, healthcare, agriculture, and digital transformation.
During their meeting, the focus was on India's developmental vision, particularly the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' initiative, which aspires to transform India into a developed nation by the centenary of its Independence.
The dialogue between Modi and Gates highlighted the potential of AI and digital infrastructure in transforming healthcare, education, and agriculture.
“I had a productive discussion with @narendramodi regarding India’s development, the journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047, and the exciting advancements in health, agriculture, AI, and other impactful sectors,” Gates shared on X.
The India AI Mission and the Gates Foundation are anticipated to collaborate on various initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance public services and foster sustainable solutions.
Gates also met with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to explore fresh opportunities for agricultural development.
Their discussions centered on climate-resilient crops, biofortification, and AI-driven farming methods, which are designed to assist Indian farmers in combating climate change and improving productivity.
“The Gates Foundation is already collaborating with us, and today we explored avenues to expand that partnership,” Chouhan remarked after their meeting.
This visit is particularly significant as it commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
For the first time, its Board of Trustees is convening in the Global South, with India selected as the focal point for its global initiatives.
