Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday, 10 June said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's completion of 12 years in elected executive office is a reflection of the people's sustained trust in his governance model, adding that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has significantly expanded its political footprint under his leadership.

Key Remarks by CM Yadav

Addressing reporters in Bhopal, Yadav said Modi's political journey and prolonged tenure in public office stand as evidence of his commitment to development and public welfare. He highlighted that the BJP currently governs 17 states, while the NDA collectively administers 22 states across the country.

'We are proud that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the BJP is in power in 17 states and the NDA governs a total of 22 states. Coming from an ordinary family, Prime Minister Modi remains dedicated as the country's Pradhan Sevak and is committed to the welfare of every section of society,' Yadav said.

A Historic Milestone in Indian Politics

Yadav noted that Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in independent India's history, surpassing the record previously held by the country's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. 'After Independence, the record for the longest tenure as an elected Prime Minister was held by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now surpassed that record,' he said.

This milestone has been a focal point for the BJP, which has been marking the occasion by highlighting governance reforms, welfare initiatives, and the alliance's widening political reach.

Upcoming NDA Chief Ministers' Meeting

The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also referred to an upcoming NDA Chief Ministers' meeting, describing it as an opportunity for alliance-governed states to exchange experiences and adopt best practices. 'Within the framework of democracy, the NDA meeting reflects cooperation among states that share a common ideology. Our objective is to further strengthen good governance and ensure that welfare schemes are implemented more systematically and effectively,' Yadav said.

Congress Criticism

Yadav also took aim at the Indian National Congress (Congress), alleging that the party had pursued divisive politics and lost public support owing to what he described as a self-centred approach. He did not elaborate on specific instances.
