Guwahati, May 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated the revamped Haibargaon railway station, a historical site over 138 years old, located in Nagaon district of central Assam. This event is part of a national initiative that involves the inauguration of 103 redeveloped railway stations across 86 districts in the country.

Officials from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) reported that notable figures such as Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, and Assam Revenue Minister Keshab Mahanta were present during the inauguration.

As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), the 103 stations were redeveloped at a significant cost of approximately Rs 1,100 crore. These stations span various states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, and more.

The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that the Haibargaon station is the first rail station in Assam to be revamped under this scheme, out of 50 stations designated for redevelopment.
